Everything about your grappling is your responsibility. There is nothing your coach can do other than pass on knowledge. It is your responsibility to take in that knowledge, use it, and achieve the result you want. You probably see your coach for an hour or two a day if you're a hobbyist at most and in that time, he is solely focused on getting you to accomplish the goals he has set out for the day. He has no control over the work you are putting in outside the gym, whether you are sleeping well, working out, eating things that are more beneficial than detrimental to you being able to grapple for an hour. In a way, if you want to be successful at this, you have to be the clown fish to your sea anemone coach. Most of the work is done by you, but you are able to do what you do because they are there. Your success in grappling rests on your shoulders, if you aren't doing the things you need to do, why not?
