There are a bunch of things that you can do sporadically and get decent results, grappling is not one of those things. I think this has to do with constant competition and comparison. You can always see who is improving and putting the work in and who isn't. Showing up is the best way to get better, but if you have other priorities or you can't get off the couch, then going to class just gets harder and harder. If you would like to get better at grappling the only answer is forcing yourself to go no matter what, if that's not something you can do then give yourself grace when your performance is not where you want it to be.
