Grappling seems like an exercise in brute force, but if you actually think about the narrative that is pushed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, there is no way that can be true. BJJ is all about efficiency and economy of motion. We seek to have the greatest impact with the least expenditure. Sometimes you will need to make taxing, difficult movements, but those are momentary not consistent. This is where the rigidity I've talked about comes in, by being rigid you are using energy unnecessarily. I'm not saying you shouldn't use strength or that strength is bad, but the focus should be on effective use of strength and out thinking the opposition rather than clubbing people over the head and dragging them to the cave.
