I don’t feel like training right now. I don’t feel like getting up at 4:30am to go get a duct tape workout in. I don’t feel like being tired and sore. I just don’t feel like actually doing Jiu Jitsu, and this isn’t the first time. The motivation goes away all the time, it’s not reliable. You don’t get anywhere by showing up when you feel like it unfortunately. So you show up and you find the other stuff that you enjoy about being in the room. This is the long game, you can spend years and years getting to mediocre, if you depend on feeling motivated or wanting to show up, that process takes longer. As I always say, I’ve never regretted going to class, but I’ve certainly regretted not going.
