Success is not everything in Jiu Jitsu. Mostly because it is nearly unattainable in the beginning. That’s why you have to make attempts, not wild attempts, but attempts to use your knowledge. Connect what you know to the situation at hand and make an effort to do something. That’s how you build small victories. At some point, it’s not enough to not get submitted or swept. Eventually, your goal turns to offense, to addressing positions proactively instead of reactively. Place yourself in the mindset of not just protecting yourself but being able to end or leave the situation. Thrive not just survive.
