The highest success rate in removing someone from our back is not in relentlessly rolling over and over again, but in using the mat to scrape them off of us. Many times, when we just try to roll while someone is attached behind us, they come along and end up flattening us out. Conventionally I would rather see what’s happening to me, so even if I end up on the bottom, getting my shoulder blades and hips to the floor allows me to have a better understanding of the dangers I face. So we slide away rather than turn away as the simplest method to remove chest to back control.
