Part of grappling is that you’re probably not going to win a lot right away. That means that you will have to find motivation in something other than success, or you will have to reframe what success means. To a Jiu Jitsu person, success could mean I only got submitted 5 times in a round instead of 8. It’s still technically losing, but it’s better than it usually is. Maybe you tried a new submission or move and failed miserably, the success is in that you went out on a limb and tried something. That takes courage. Change the traditional view of success for yourself, it makes something difficult slightly easier.
