I come from a very old school lineage and mentality. If you were going to be a lifelong jiujiteiro, it meant you were obsessed, super patient, or both. You were either given a belt because you earned it or you had the previous belt so long it became unreasonable not to promote you. That seems really hard for people these days. I see people who want to be promoted, that haven’t put the work in, or barely show up and are unhappy with their progress. I can’t help you if you’re not in the room and you won’t get better by not training. The person responsible for your progress is you. I only give out the rewards for your efforts.
