The gentleman who runs Bronx Martial Arts Academy is sort of a mythical figure. Both Gordon Ryan and John Danaher have mentioned him on podcasts. He’s in his fifties and regularly beats the tar out of much younger people, me included. He’s one of two people that stylistically beats me up the way I would beat myself up. I like rolling with him, it’s good for me, and I get mauled…. every single time. Getting beat up is okay, I miss it. I can almost guarantee that any beating you’ve gotten in the room is no worse than one I’ve received.
