There is no immediate gratification in grappling. Nothing really comes quickly and that doesn't change no matter the teaching methodology. You need to be patient to get anywhere. If a blue belt takes two years of training on average and that just means you are kind of sort of proficient at basic tasks, then logically you know this is a long road. One day will not make you good at jiu jitsu, one month won't make you good at jiu jitsu, and one year might not even make you good at jiu jitsu. I would say I was awful at jiu jitsu for probably the first 3 years and then I was decent for my level for a little bit, then awful for my level for another year, and since then I've been about mediocre, there are worse and there are better. Either way getting frustrated wasn't going to get me to where I am now. I got my black belt in 14 years, if you want to see results, expect it to take a while.
