My knowledge is not your knowledge, which is why I can show you something and you struggle to execute it. My ability to execute something comes from experience, I have put in a lot of hours to be able to do what I do on the mat. That’s how you get good at anything. It’s also what’s frustrating. It feels good to have answers, your brain craves answers and what seems like solutions. However, if you’ve been shown a technique, how often can you implement it right away? In my experience that happens rarely with people of similar skill and there’s not a situation where you will need to execute a specific technique anyway. Concepts and principles plus doing the thing you are trying to do is how you train your mind and body to execute. The goal is that you have your own knowledge and understanding not that you regurgitate mine.
