We do not have infinite room for infinite processing systems. So we must create a way to simplify our tasks in order to accomplish our goals. This is made easier by stepping away from the notion that there is one perfect solution for each situation. If we do not need to maintain a massive catalogue of if a then b, we free up brain space and make our lives easier. That’s why we look at overarching goals, we have to do certain things in grappling, how we accomplish those tasks doesn’t really matter as much as we believe. Your brain doesn’t need to have a concrete sequential order of movement for you to be successful, in fact the less you process things that way, the easier grappling becomes.
