Martial Arts schools should not be raising your children. If you’re reading this, you are now most likely on one of two sides. Those sides are obviously…duh and isn’t that what martial arts are for? To give discipline and structure? No, martial arts are for fighting first of all, followed by competition. Discipline, structure, respect may be byproducts of effective martial arts teaching, but if your child needs all of those things then martial arts won’t solve the underlying issues. No activity will, that’s what therapy is for. Your child is a whole separate person, they have no clue why you’re throwing them into a situation where they are constantly in pain having their space invaded, and that contributes to further rebellion. Just because you want them to be bully proof, physically fit, better behaved, or whatever doesn't mean they want any of that or want to put in the work to be that way. Martial Arts instructors have no more qualifications to guide your children to a better life than architects. In no way is it their specialization or what they trained for. If you want a place to leave your kid and "fix" them stop making it martial arts schools, we don't want to fix anyone. We want to help people who want to be helped, and if that's not your kid, that's not their problem.
