We work task-based games as our primary training modality. When you do that there are objectives to accomplish. Sometimes that can lead to a win/lose dichotomy. I understand that no one wants to lose, however sometimes it is in your best interest to restart. Losing is part of the learning process in jiu jitsu. It is also beneficial for your longevity to not force things or hold on to things for longer than necessary. A lot of injuries in grappling come from stopping the inevitable. Losing one round of one game and starting over is much better than being out for an undetermined amount of time because you did something silly. Everyone loses rounds in the ecological approach; it is designed to get you out of your comfort zone, to make you explore positions and solve puzzles you would not normally. If you make learning the priority over winning, the winning will come and you'll actually be able to train.
