The things that don’t change are the most critical. If you are good at the things that don’t change, that don’t vary, you can make a lot of progress. So what are those things that don’t change? That’s actually a question for you. I give examples in class all the time of things that are true across many facets of grappling, and I tend to repeat them, it then becomes your job to make that information yours. How do you take what I say, what I do, and what you know then translate it to execution? Practice, mentally and physically, doing the thing is optimal, but you also have to think about doing the thing. The goal is that you know and can implement what you know, apply it across a broad range of situations and make informed decisions without having to catalog infinite perfect solutions. Focus on the things that don’t vary or change, this is the way.
