If you can’t make it to training don’t compete. The likelihood that going out there without adequate preparation is a huge waste of your time and money is very high. Occasionally, you may be able to phone it in and get decent results, but the odds are not in your favor. It’s disrespectful to your training partners, your coach, and anyone who comes to watch you to know you didn’t put the work in. It doesn’t matter if you lose, what matters is you put the effort in. I’ve been there; I’ve gone to tournaments unprepared. You don’t have to do that, and you don’t have to compete, but if you half-ass it, that’s not on anyone but you.
