Momentum allows you to accomplish things. If you continuously stack up actions it is more likely to achieve a positive outcome. It can be exercise, reading, drawing, or whatever else you are trying to do, momentum is very helpful. If you want to get out of a bad position in grappling, the worst thing you can do is stop moving. Just like in life, it doesn’t have to be big movements. Even if you improve in minute increments it is better than where you were. These are small victories, the basis of getting through hard things. Unfortunately no one wakes up one day and is all seeing and all knowing. Everyone struggles and changes their approach, evolving in to who they need to be to accomplish the task in front of them. It’s not too hard, it’s never too hard. It’s whether you want to keep going. You are the only person in control of who you become, and if you stop, you never become that person. I know people will quit Jiu Jitsu or give up on whatever other goals they have, but if you do train I hope the mindset of pushing through difficulties carries over into whatever you pursue afterwards.
