Statistically you will quit before you’re any good at grappling. It’s the same in everything; we just don’t talk about it as much. Everyone’s quit something, I think the main difference is there’s real consequences to being terrible at grappling. There’s no punishment for being bad at guitar or knitting and it probably won’t save your life. When you’re bad at combat sports though, not only do you get beat up, but you also realize that there are people out there who look like wet cigarettes that can take everything you own, and you can’t do anything about it. It takes courage, bravery, determination, stupidity, it takes something to keep showing up for infinitesimal improvement. Quit if you must, but if you don’t, that’s something to hang your hat on.
