Obviously other grappling arts and martial arts in general are going to be helpful for your Jiu Jitsu, but what are some non-fighting things that you can supplement your training with? My favorite rock climbing, it strengthens your grip and like Jiu Jitsu the consequences of not paying attention are not great. Also, high on persistence, as most of it is just failing over and over again. Dance/ gymnastics there are many good grapplers who come from a dance background and being acrobatic, flexible, and having extreme body awareness and control are all super beneficial. Lifting, yoga, Pilates, and any other strength building activity that also promotes flexibility is highly recommended for longevity. I’m not a runner, and I don’t know a lot of Jiu Jitsu athletes that swear by road work the way boxers and wrestlers do, but if your body reacts well to it, why not? there’s lots of things you can do to improve areas of your grappling outside the gym, but the best thing for your Jiu Jitsu will always be more Jiu Jitsu.
