Not showing up doesn’t solve that you suck. No matter what you do outside of class, you’re not getting better at Jiu Jitsu without doing Jiu Jitsu. If you don’t want to be in the room all the time, that’s okay, but don’t lie to yourself and claim that whatever accessory activities you’re doing are getting your grappling where you’d like it to be. Lifting, running, climbing, or whatever else you do is great if you already have decent Jiu Jitsu, but if your grappling is terrible, then it only goes so far. I promise you can’t solve your grappling issues without grappling, so if you have the goal to get better, get in the room.
