Most people quit Jiu Jitsu, some multiple times. Making it to blue belt is hard and making it past blue belt is harder. In giving martial arts mass appeal, we water them down. It’s what happened to taekwondo and karate, it is also an issue in people not differentiating between kickboxing and cardio kickboxing. It is my personal belief that it is disingenuous to sell someone into something they are not suited for or that won’t be effective. I understand and accept that Jiu Jitsu isn’t actually for everyone if we want it to maintain its utility. I would rather someone know from the outset that what I do is not for them than to waste anyone’s time.
