Sometimes you should train other places, it's good for you. We all have a home gym, but it's good to get out of your comfort zone occasionally. It allows you to test your techniques against people that don't already know what you're going to do, and maybe exposes some holes in your game. The real trick is finding a place you feel welcome, once you find that there's nothing wrong with cross training a couple times a month if there's no friction from either gym about it.

Games within games, is a key to improvement in grappling. BJJ is like a russian nesting doll, there's the overarching giant game of mercy and within that are smaller and smaller games. If you can win each of the smaller games consistently, not only will you be more successful, but it is a key to getting better faster. As you advance, a grip, a foot placement, and how you hold your weight can make all the difference in a match. The faster you are able to understand your positions and win each exchange, you'll be much happier with your grappling. The more you dissect the things you are doing, the better you can understand how to be successful. If you aren't dissecting the parts of grappling in your training, use whatever open mat time you have to place boundaries on yourself and develop the best understanding you can of the positions you commonly end up in.
If you spend enough time with the same people, eventually there will be conflict. The same holds true for a jiu jitsu gym. In a room full of people who are usually type A where dominance is the name of the game, things get heated sometimes. It's happened at every gym I've ever been a part of and it has happened to me. No one is immune from having confrontations or spats in the gym, but there's no reason to escalate situations above whatever the present issue is. Name calling, swearing, and any type of physical goading are unnecessary, especially when you consider you're both probably going to have to see each other frequently. It's going to happen given the nature of our activity, but make sure that you're not making it worse.
