I was rolling with one of my blue belts the other day for an hour more or less, and one of the topics we started discussing was analysis of the situation. We talked about what I was doing to stifle his offense. The basic answer being I took away the A-game, continually I placed myself in situations where I was more comfortable. I would say that’s the greatest benefit to a well-rounded game, the tool bag is immense. As you don’t use a hammer to put screws in, when you are rolling you must use the proper tool for the situation. In the room we all know what the other people do well, why not use it to our advantage?
